Nick and Nora, doing their thing. Again, a sequel that in many ways surpasses the original, thanks largely to the crackling dialogue.

Actually a bit better than the original, in one viewers humble opinion. The ultimate resolution is a confused bit of detective film hooey, but the Charleses share lots of snappy dialogue, and Nicky is still drinking like a fish. Enjoyable.

The Nick and Nora repartée holds up, even after all these years. But the rest of the movie is a muddle, especially at the beginning. I actually enjoyed at least one of the sequels more than this otherwise acknowledged classic. Probably not to be missed for true movie aficionados, but if you're not that deep in, you can probably skip it.

Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House

You get the feeling that this movie should have been better than it is. A better narrative structure might have helped. We don't really need the narration--just give us the story straight, please. Then again, you get to spend a couple of hours watching Cary Grant, doing his usual comedic best, so that's nothing to sneeze at.
