Oh, Hanzo. You're incorrigible. Which is to say, this outing is pretty much exactly the same as the first two, maybe leaning more toward the original than the (better) second installment of the series. Our incorruptible (in certain senses, at least) Edo officer of the law is still having his way with women, still pissing off his superiors, still speaking truth to power, and mostly getting away with it. Come to think of it, these flicks were not just fodder for Tarantino's oeuvre, but may have served as models for any number of western (in the geopolitical sense) police movies, with the loose cannon cop and his yelling lieutenant and some sort of corrupt cabal in the higher ranks of government. Who influenced whom? At this remove, it's hard to say. They are certainly relics of another time, and best left to those who have an interest in pursuing such things as a matter of hobby or specific interest.
