Moonraker

A movie series, like a man, has got to know its limitations. The Bond producers failed that test here. Bond flicks are spy movies; they’re not Star Wars. And they don’t really work when they’re trying to be Star Wars. That’s probably why the series never again stepped in a pile like it did with this one. So much of this outing is ridiculous and out of character that it’s surprising that it didn’t do more lasting damage to the whole enterprise. This isn’t entirely awful--there are a few good sequences, particularly the sky tram bit--but overall, this may be the worst Bond movie ever made.
