"Weird" barely begins to go into it. Even for a comedy, this movie has a
strangely skewed outlook, one that can only be partly explained by its
Chinese origin. There are a lot of cross-cultural references here,
elements that seem to have been tossed into the script without any real
understanding of the original meaning or sentiment. But there are some
cool kung fu routines, as well as a nice undercurrent to the
story--about believing in one's self--that assures the viewer that the
movie's heart is in the right place. I wouldn't pay to see it, but I
don't regret watching it, either.
